We hear about it almost every day on the TV news, newspapers and magazines. The effects of Climate Change are real and if we are going to be able to do something about it we need to completely rethink how we use energy. If we continue the way we are going the consequences are likely to be extremely damaging.

Raising sea levels resulting from the melting icecaps will throw the global ecosystem out of balance. The ice caps are fresh water, and when they melt they will desalinate the ocean, or in plain English – make it less salty. The desalinisation of the gulf current will screw up ocean currents, which regulate temperatures.

The economic consequences will be disastrous, as freak weather conditions such as damaging floods and hurricanes become more prevalent. Droughts and extreme heatwaves will also cause huge amounts of damage, as will lack of clean drinking water in warmer parts of the world.

To avoid this we simply have to cut the energy we use from non-renewable CO2 producing sources. An extremely effective way of doing this is to lower heat loss.
